Cold Water Swimming

ALL, OTHER

I have been swimming in Lake Ontario the whole winter almost daily. The average water temperature in February and March is 2C. Sometimes it’s sunny, sometimes it’s snowing, I don’t care, I just go. The feeling after I come out of the water is incredible! Besides, cold water immersions have been proven to be amazingly healthy for body and mind, and I personally swear by it as well.

Today’s “Cold Tub Report”

Lake Ontario (Humber Bay Park, Toronto) water temperature today at 11am was 4.9C (41F). If you decide to put on your regular swimsuit and go for a swim, it will be considered an Ice Water Swim according to IWSA (International Winter Swimming Association). I decided to do just that, I swam 350m, and it took me slightly over 11 minutes at a leisure breaststroke. 3 years ago, I would dip in, my legs would turn into wood and ache like hell within 120 seconds! Human body and mind are incredible!
